Business and Soft Skill Management
To spread the fact & facet of Business and Soft Skills Management, a one-week Faculty Development Program was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, FET, MRIIRS. The aforesaid program was conducted by Entrepreneurship Development And Industrial Coordination (EDIC) Department, NITTTR, Chandigarh through online mode from 19th to 23rd September, 2022.
More than 400 faculty members from PAN India were registered directly and through Nodal Centers in this program. The department of Mechanical Engineering, FET, MRIIRS was one of the nodal centers where 23 faculties from various institutions of MRIIRS were registered and participated.
The inaugural session was started by Dr. S.K. Dhameja (Professor and Program Coordinator), who set the program context in terms of schedule and the speakers information etc. He also invited all the Nodal Center to speak about their institutions and the objective behind conducting this program in their institutes. From MRIIRS Dr. Rajender Kumar (Nodal Center Coordinator) interacted followed by Dr. Manoj Nayak (HoD-ME), who briefed about the department and the institution roles in creating and boosting the entrepreneurial ecosystem at MRIIRS. He paid his sincere gratitude to NITTTR officials and the competent authorities of MRIIRS giving the opportunity and everlasting support to conduct this program.
Day-1: The first session was taken by Prof. S. Rangnekar (IIT Roorkee) on Talent Management. He explored the necessity of strategic process for getting the right talent onboard and helping them grow to their optimal capabilities keeping organizational objectives in mind. The second session was taken by Dr. S.K. Dhameja (Professor and Program Coordinator) on Enterprise Support System and New Initiatives of GOI. At the end of the day one Task-1 was given to all the participants pertaining to identifying the individual characteristics of the participants to be a future entrepreneur.
Day-2: The first two sessions were taken by Dr. Yash Pal Taneja on Considerations for managing the finances of start-up companies. Along with management of resources, he explained the source of finances and the prerequisites for getting the finance. The last session of the second day was taken by Ms. Anuradha Chawla on Problem Solving for Entrepreneurs. She explained the various myths and problems before the entrepreneurs. In addition she suggested ways to tackle all those problems. At the end of day two, Task-2 was given to all the participants pertaining to go through the journey of an entrepreneur and answer such issues.
Day-3: Er. Amardev Singh was the expert speaker and he discussed the importance of CSR as a means of financing for Start-ups. He also emphasized the role of HEI’s in getting the CSR funding for Start-Ups. The second session was taken by Prof. S. Rangnekar (IIT Roorkee) on Mentoring Skills in the HEI’s Professionals. He explored the seven conditions for teaching leadership among the future aspirants. The last session of the second day was taken by Ms. Anuradha Chawla on Start-up Hiccups. She emphasized on the necessity of infrastructure to incubate and nurturing start-ups. . In addition she suggested ways to tackle all those problems. At the end of day three, Task-3 was given to all the participants pertaining to go through the journey of an international entrepreneur and answer such issues.
Day-4: Dr. Harsh Vardhan Samalia, Prof., NITTTR explored the Strategic Planning and Management for Entrepreneurs. He took the case studies of the well-known Start-Ups and explained the contribution of strategic planning in their journey. The second session was conducted by Mr. Hitesh Kumar Gulati. During his session he gave the two tasks to all the participants and interacted with them one to one to discuss the tasks. The last session was taken by Er. Amardev Singh, NITTTR on Importance of IPR and Patenting for Innovation. He emphasized the design thinking in the Innovation and getting the IPR before commercialization. At the end of day four, Task-4 on Case Study of Business Incubators in a Technical Institution in India was given to all the participants.
Day-5: The final day of the FDP was started with an informative talk by Prof. Niraj Bala on Industry-4.0. She explored the role played by the advanced technologies in Industries and their contribution in managing the processes within and outside the organization. The second session was taken by Ms. Jeevan Jyoti on Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) for Entrepreneurs. She explained the NLP and its applicability in the present day start-Ups. The last and the final session was taken by Dr. S.K. Dhameja (Professor and Program Coordinator) on the Management of MSMEs. He explored the management aspects in MSMEs to manage and optimize the resources. Finally the FDP was concluded by feedback by the participants and concluded by the coordinators.
At the end of the program, I take the opportunity to pay my sincere gratitude to the Competent Authorities of both the Institution i.e. MRIIRS and NITTTR for giving us an opportunity to conduct this program.
