MRIIRS Motto- Sustainability drives Globality

The Government of India endorsed and signed the UN’s “Transforming our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” which includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 associated Targets, in September 2015.The Agenda for Sustainable Development is already seeking strong interest from governments, international organizations, enterprises, civic society, and other institutions in UN member states.

MRIIRS is making significant progress toward the 17 Sustainable Development Goals outlined by the United Nations General Assembly for the sake of the planet and its inhabitants. The strategy aims at many paths addressing the environment, gender, food and water security, high-quality education, and numerous other essential needs. MRIIRS aspires to be a resource and a force that provides knowledge, vigour, inspiration, and motivation to the stakeholders of the institution, empowering them to support and live sustainable lifestyles and, as a result, to engage in and contribute to democratic governance more effectively in India.

To contribute towards sustainable goals, MRIIRS strongly emphasize on improving teaching-learning and pedagogical processes through updated the curriculum in consultation with stakeholders, Organising National and internationals Events/Seminars/Workshops/Conferences in the different fields of such as the environment, gender, the need for secure access to food and water, high-quality education, and several other basic necessities.

MRIIRS Centre for Sustainable Development

A salient statement in the Vision and Mission of MRIIRS has been to train its students in the backdrop of Indian ethos and values to enable their transformation into insightful, honorable, and responsible citizens of India, who work and dedicate themselves for the advancement of humanity.  In alignment of Vision and Mission of MRIIRS, the MRIIRS Centre for Sustainable Development (MRCSD) aspires to be a resource and a force that provides knowledge, vigour, inspiration, and motivation to the stakeholders of the institution, empowering them to support and live sustainable lifestyles and, as a result, to engage in and contribute to democratic governance more effectively in India. The centre is committed to make significant progress toward the 17 Sustainable Development Goals outlined by the United Nations General Assembly for the sake of the planet and its inhabitants.

MRCSD under the able mentoring of Chairman Dr. Naresh Grover, PVC MRIIRS and other legendary board members, vision of Dr Prashant Bhalla (Chancellor MRIIRS), resolve of Dr Amit Bhalla (Vice President MRIIRS) and leadership of Dr Sanjay Srivastava (Vice Chancellor MRIIRS) and commitment of all core committee members as well as faculty/staff members and students, is on the path of sustainability. Further, the centre provides awareness and training programme for many SDGs including environmental consciousness.

COURSES ON CLIMATE SCIENCE AND/ OR ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

Dedication for society and environmental sustainability are integrated into the mission and vision of the Manav Rachna International Institute of Research & Studies in tune with the ideology of the founder. Courses related to Environment & Sustainability, and Professional ethics are integral part of the curricula of various programs at different levels.  These courses enhance the awareness about Environmental issues and impart knowledge for Environment protection, conservation of natural resources and waste management. Field/Project work is also included in environmental studies course that gives real-world exposure to the students related to environmental issues.  This empowers the students to apply learned concepts/ acquired skills to provide solutions and make a tangible impact at a local/ global level. University also believes in instilling professional ethics among students and related courses are manifestly integrated in curriculum of all programs. Plantation drives are also conducted every year during the student induction program.

The Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2023, are global performance benchmarks that assess universities on their endeavors toward achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These one-of-a-kind rankings evaluate the universities globally. Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies has been ranked among the very top in the Country based on the initiatives in the direction of Sustainability. We have been ranked among the top 200 globally for clean water and sanitation, among the top 300 for the Sustainable Goal of Zero Hunger among the top 600 for SDG5 – Gender Equality and SDG 3: Good Health & Well Being. As an educational institution that thrives with the motto “Sustainability drives Globality”, our zealous pursuits towards sustainable actions are at the heart of all our initiatives.

MRIIRS -ISR Activities and Outreach Programmes

Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies has been playing a pioneering role in Social Responsibility. The university regularly exposes its students to myriad activities in the neighborhood community and areas to impel them to undertake various societal activities and in the process develop holistic persona and core values. This not only raises the curtain for the students towards social issues but also affords them hands-on experience, experiential learning, working in a team, participative learning, decision making leading to holistic development beyond boundaries of the classroom.

Since its inception, MRIIRS has rendered extension services to the people of Faridabad District and adjoining areas, which has brought about seminal changes on many fronts. With a great emphasis on the values of humility and gratitude, the students and faculty members have taken up the cudgels for societal upliftment of the general population of Faridabad district and contiguous areas through its ISR initiatives. The ISR arm of MRIIRS, Dr O P Bhalla Foundation (http://dropbhallafoundation.org/ ), operates with the objectives to carry forward philanthropic and development activities in various fields like education, sustainable development, environment protection, women empowerment and gender equality, health and wellbeing, geriatric health care, empowering weaker sections of society and reviving our rich cultural heritage. Serving the nation through efforts in inclusive growth, societal development, and diversity conservation, the students, and staff of MRIIRS have endeavored with great alacrity and commitment.
