Inbound Activities

  • International Students’ Participation in YASH 2020 (16thJanuary –18thJanuary 2020)

‘Yash 2020’, being organised by The Foundation for Global Science Initiatives (FGSI) and Manav Rachna University (MRU) from 16th to 18th january 2020, has international participants from Indonesia, Russia and Nepal participating in project pitching, technical presentations and poster sessions.  The two-membered team from Russia presented the project on plant cultivation in an aeroponic module which helps to conserve a lot of water. One of teams from Indonesia is working on the electricity generation using biogas targeting the problems of energy crisis and sanitation in the isolated rural areas of Indonesia. They presented their project on the ‘Modified carburettor of gasoline power generators into biogas fuel generators’.  

Muhammad Daffa Rial, student participant from Indonesia, presented his work on the ‘Design of a pulse rate detection monitoring system’ which detects heartbeat abnormality and sends an emergency signal to the doctor in multiple ways (email/WhatsApp message, etc.) and can save a patient’s life.
 
 



  • LUAS Students Complete their Environment and Sustainability Project at MRU (1stSept 2016 –24th Jan 2017)

Roope Sippola, Viivi Anttonen and Teemu, the students of B.Tech., Lahti University of Applied Sciences (LUAS, Finland), did the project (1st Sept 2016 – 24th Jan 2017) on Environment and Sustainability at Manav Rachna University. The project was supervised by Prof. (Dr.) Rajat Gera (Department of Management and Commerce and Ms. Meena Kapahi (Faculty of Applied Sciences). Their guide for the project was Dr. Pia, LUAS, Finland. The project initiated with meetings with government officials and field study of the rural and urban waste management system, smart city projects, and CSR activities of Faridabad with the assistance of ADC office, Chief Engineer Office (secretariat) and Dr. O.P. Bhalla Foundation. The details of the project are:

    1. Development and user testing of low cost and micro composting tumbler for organic waste management and installation at the Dr. O.P. Bhalla Community Centre (Mohna village);
    2. Concept testing of a dry toilet for individual households;
    3. Communication evaluation of media and content effectiveness for creating awareness amongst school children about waste management; and
    4. Cleanliness campaigns in Government Boys and Govt. Girls’ Schools at Mohna village which were appreciated by the school authorities and the school children.



  • Academic cum Cultural Exchange Programme for the students of Carleton University, Canada (7th – 12thMay 2018)

A group of 14 students from Carleton University, Canada, visited Manav Rachna University for a week-long programme ‘Cultural Extravaganza’ from 7th – 12thMay 2018, which was a part of their India Study tour. The theme of the programme was “Indian Culture, Art and its Heritage”. The programme involved various workshop sessions on Indian Puppetry – the History & the Making (hands-on training on puppet making), Indian Art (about Madhubani paintings) and the classical dances of India. The students enjoyed learning about some of the important dance mudras. They enjoyed participating in the workshop and experiencing the intricate movements of hands and stamping movements made by raising the feet. The students visited many tourist places in and around Delhi as a part of the programme. To witness the rich Indian heritage, the students along with faculty members travelled to Agra and visited the majestic Taj Mahal, one of the UNESCO’s world heritage sites. A visit to the Canadian High Commission, New Delhi, was organized, in which the students had an opportunity to interact with Mr. Brian Parrott, Minister (Commercial), and Mr. Auj Bhasin, Trade Commissioner, Govt. of Canada. The concluding ceremony for the programme was organized on 12th May 2018.


  • Kritika Seth, Global Health Practicum, McMaster University, Canada (May – June 2018)

Ms. Kritika Seth, a graduate student in the Masters of Global Health Programme at McMaster University, Ontario, Canada, did her Global Health Practicum (spring/summer term; May–June) at Manav Rachna University, under the supervision of Prof. (Dr.) B.M. Bahal (Dean App Sciences & Research, MRU), Dr. Ankur Sharma (Department of Public Health Dentistry, MRDC) and Ms. Meena Kapahi (Associate Professor, MRU). Ms. Kritika Seth, along with Sunaina Vedwal (Intern BDS; 2013 Batch) and Sneha Gupta (Intern BDS; 2013 Batch), worked on the issues concerning dental and menstrual health & awareness status of the female population through the survey.
