Overview

Oral pathology is the specialty of dentistry and pathology, which deals with the nature, identification and management of diseases affecting the oral and maxillofacial region. It is a science that investigates the causes, processes and effects of these diseases. The practice of oral pathology includes research, diagnosis of diseases using clinical, radiographic, microscopic, biochemical and other examinations, management of patients and forensic evaluations. Oral pathologists provide biopsy services for dental and medical professionals, and thus help in establishing a clinical diagnosis and treatment plan.

To ensure optimal care through accurate diagnosis or management of diseases and abnormalities of the oral and maxillofacial region.
To provide state of the art, comprehensive consultation in tissue diagnostic and reporting services not only to the home institution but also to the clinicians, private practitioners throughout the NCR.
To provide a centre for teaching and dissemination of knowledge through its courses, scholarly exchanges and public services.
To promote oral pathology as a speciality of dentistry by encouraging collaboration and interaction with other health care providers, laboratories and professional organizations.
