Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry

MINIMAL INTERVENTION TO MAXIMUM INVASION- CLINICAL PERSPECTIVE

The Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry, MRDC, FDS, MRIIRS Faridabad on November 15th 2022 organized a lecture cum hand-on on “Minimal Intervention To Maximum Invasion- A Clinical Perspective” for the UG and PG students. Dr. Priyanka Jain, Ph.D AB Shetty Dental College, Mangalore was the esteemed guest speaker for the event. This lecture was aimed at broadening the knowledge on rehabilitation of decayed/traumatized primary teeth using Stainless Steel Crowns and Strip Crowns to restore their functions. The guest lecturer also explained about preventive measure to limit extension of carious lesions in primary teeth.

The event began with the welcome message by Dr. Madhulika Srivastava, Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry, MRDC followed by the lecture where the speaker talked about the objectives and need of restorative treatment methods in primary teeth to repair or limit the damage from caries, protect and preserve the tooth structure, reestablish adequate function, restore esthetics and provide ease in maintaining good oral hygiene. This was followed by a hands-on workshop on application of Stainless-steel crowns and Strip crowns. A question-and-answer session with the participants was also held to eradicate any unclarified doubts about the topic. The session concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Carrolene Langpoklakpam.

PO–4 Competency: Essential for the general dentist to begin independent, unsupervised dental practice and can self evaluate treatment effectiveness,

PO-5 Emerging technologies: Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and IT tools in all clinical disciplines and methods of preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of dentistry with an understanding of the limitations.

PO-6 Health Promotion: To Improve awareness and provide possible solutions for oral health problems and needs

throughout the community.

PO-7 Environment and Sustainability: To understand the Influence of the natural and social environment on the state of health as it affects dentistry and demonstrate the need for sustainable development.

PO-8 Professionalism & Ethics: To apply the current knowledge of dentistry in the best interest of the patient and maintain a high standard of professional ethics and conduct.

PO-9 Individual and Team Work: To function effectively as an individual and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings so as to promote oral health and prevent oral diseases wherever possible.

 

PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOMES

Post graduate will be able to

PS01 Understand the principles of preventive dentistry right from birth to adolescence and guide parents in regard to various treatment modalities.

PSO2 Acquire skills to perform essential diagnostic procedures and treat appropriately so as to manage a child patient efficiently and effectively with emphasis also on treatment of individual needs of disabled children

PS03 To have knowledge of the microbiological and Immunological aspects of pediatric oral pathologies.

Due to COVID-19, there are a few changes around the department in order to keep your family and our staff and students as safe as possible.

  • Only 1 parent/guardian should accompany each patient, and siblings should be left at home to minimize the number of people in the department.
  • We ask that parents wear a mask or face covering while in the office.
  • Our doctors will be wearing some additional personal protective equipment.
