Q.Why should you choose Biotechnology as a Career Option?

It is a good time to understand that Indian Life science space is open and dynamic. It encompasses vibrant biotech industry, innovation entrepreneurial ecosystem, increased industry academia interface, which is expected to make the Indian biotech industry a 100 billion dollar industry by 2025.

Q.Why Biotechnology is a good Career Option?

It is one of the fastest growing sectors in India and is expected to play key role in shaping India’s rapidly developing economy. On the other hand many initiatives and schemes have been floated by Government of India over the past 3 decades for building human resource capital and institutional capacity for life science sector. The vision of the Government is to nurture home grown excellence. India currently holds 10th global publication rank and 18th global citation impact rank in science and technology.

Q.How did Biotechnology develop as a branch of science and technology?

Biotechnology has its roots in pre-historic times in the form of basic life sciences for e.g fermentation of fruit juices into wine, milk to cheese or yogurt, or that beer from malt and thus began the study of biotechnology. Today better integration within biology and closer collaboration with physical, computational and earth scientists, mathematicians and engineers can be used to find solutions to societal needs i.e.: sustainable food production, ecosystem restoration, optimized biofuels production and improvement in human health.

Q.What is the scope for Biotechnology graduates?

Biotechnology is multi-disciplinary in nature. Special methodologies are characteristics of this domain. Activities in this area have existed since several decades. In the recent past, this field has emerged as a major subject of study, particularly in graduate and post graduate programmes. Scope for students of Biotechnology for the coming years is immense. Incubation centers created by the government are also aiding towards potential production of human resource.

Q.How can I get more information about the B.Tech , M.Tech and Master of Science programs in biotechnology beside the web site?
An information/admission package is provided to all potential applicants that communicate by email with our office. Feel free to communicate by email or by phone (0129-4198230) for any questions you may have, it will be our pleasure to help you.

Q.Is there anything I can do to prepare for the admission interviews?
