About Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering

Electronics and Communication Engineering has long played a crucial role in supporting innovations that improve the quality of life, support economic growth, and address societal problems. The essential technologies that connect society: mobile phones, laptops, wireless communications, electronic displays, “smart” power grids, smart cities, smart buildings and rapidly evolving systems for monetary transactions are all evidence of the impact of innovation in this field of engineering.

The Department was set up in 1997 and its B.Tech-ECE programme was accredited by NBA in 2004, 2007 and 2018. The research interests of the faculty members of the department encompass the wide area of applied and fundamental aspects of Electronics and Communication Engineering including but not limited to Communication Systems,Microelectronics& VLSI, IoT, Digital Signal Processing, Wireless and Mobile communication, Antenna Design and RF & Microwave Engineering. Twenty three Ph.D scholars are currently engaged in cutting edge research in the Department and fifteen have been awarded Ph.D degree. Faculty members and students are actively involved in research and have published their work in journals of National/International repute.

Faculty members in the department have filed patents in the following fields:

  • Planar Super-wide band Equal Power Divider / Combiner for RF & Microwave
  • Microwave Sensing Device for Dielectric Characterization of Materials
  • A mobile home based biogas digester

The Department has state-of-the-art, well equipped laboratories  with adequate facilities catering to the requirements of undergraduates, postgraduates and research scholars particularly in the  area of High End Electronic Design , Micro controllers,Microprocessors,Embedded System Design, VLSI Design, Antenna Design, Microwave, Advanced Communication Systems, Simulation and Digital Signal Processing. In addition to the well-equipped curriculum related laboratories, the Department has strong association with the Research Clusters and various Centers of Excellence in the University.

The Department strives to impart latest knowledge and skills so as to kindle innovation & creativity among students, to establish  a culture  of  research  while promoting values,ethics and professionalism, leading to a progressive career in industry & academia globally.

The Department has state of the art educational aids, visual laboratories and competent faculty ensuring effective teaching learning process to meet the ever growing and changing industrial and business environment. The whole learning process is designed in a way so as to continuously challenge the young minds with ideas, to carry out innovative research through interaction with the research organizations & industry and to provide them avenues for recognition by participation in challenging platforms.

The Department continuously upgrades the curriculum and teaching inputs taking cognizance of its prime stake holders viz. research organizations, industry, peer community, alumni, parents and students. To give greater emphasis on education methodology, guest lectures, seminars, workshops, personality development programs, educational tours, industrial visits and quizzes are organized. The department has linkages with industry, leading academic institutes and scientific research organizations like DST, MoSPI, DRDO, IIT, ISI, SAP, RIL etc. The department has offered consult a ncyto various industries.The student chapter of Institution of Engineers India (IEI) and ISTE is fully functional in the department.

The students of the Department have participated in various National and International Level Competitions and have bagged top position in Intel Higher Education Challenge, Accenture Innovation Challenge, Microsoft Imagine Cup and tech fest’s of IIT’s.

  • Texas Instruments (TI) India University Program (Edgate Technologies) has collaborated with the department wherein different lab facilities have been created within the department for enhancing the hands on skills of the students in the Domain of Embedded Systems, Analog Electronics, Power Systems, IOT & Sensor Technologies.
  • Cogenda has collaborated with the Department for conducting collaborative projects in VLSI domain

These knowledge partners provide students the opportunity to do research on the latest cutting edge technologies and act as an interface for skilling them as per requirements of the Industry.

B.Tech – Electronics & Communication Engg. (with specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things) is offered in association with Intel Corporation. This programme provides an opportunity to the students to learn the insights to the most important technologies driving the modern world namely Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things. Students aregiven 360 degree exposure to various INTEL Hardware and Software platforms that are used in Industry for AIand IoT development. Curriculum designing in consultation with INTEL Experts will provide an opportunity to the students  toacquire the latest skills in these cutting edge technologies using Intel Intelligent Systems Lab through INTEL experts. Students will get an opportunity to work on INTEL Xeon Processors, INTEL Parallel Studio Software, Intel System Studio Software, INTEL AI development Tools, INTEL AI Software Libraries, INTEL Frame Work Optimization, Movidius Neural Compute Stick and INTEL FPGA Boards. In the IoT Space, the students will get to learn about INTEL Galileo, INTEL Edison Boards along with other popular boards like  RaspberryPi and Arduino for designing IoT Systems. Students will get certified on successful completion of the course which caters to the need of Industry 4.0, theory and lab Courses related to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Internet of Things and detailed coverage of Electronics hardware that is driving these technologies.



Placement opportunities are available in Public sector companies like BEL, BSNL, BHEL, NHPC, NTPC, DRDO, DMRC, C-Dot, HAL, Airport Authority, BARC, ISRO, DoS, DST, NPL, Armed Forces and Core companies like Mentor Graphics, Cadence, Microchip, ST Microelectronics etc. Large MNCs and IT companies namely Infosys, TCS, Wipro, L&T Infotech, HCL, Hewitt, Satyam, Ta taTelecom, NIIT, Siemens, Huawei, Ericsson, Ceasefire, Capital IQ etc. are the major recruiters. Students also opt for higher studies. New organizations handling IPR and Patenting also offer job opportunities to ourstudents.
