Alumni Lecture on “Career Opportunities in Physiotherapy Canada”
The Department of Physiotherapy, FAHS conducted an alumni expert lecture on ‘Career Opportunities in Physiotherapy in Canada’ recently. The eminent speaker was our alumni Dr. Divjot Mehndiratta. She was welcomed by Dr. MR Rivi, Dean FAHS. She did her Bachelors in physiotherapy from MRIIRS and Health Systems Management from Fanshawe College, Ontario, Canada, where she graduated on Deans’ honor’s list for both semesters. Presently she is working as Clients Relationships Manager at Tangerine services, Montreal, Quebec.
Around 150 students attended the seminar and received information on how to explore career opportunities in Canada.
She informed the students that physiotherapy is a regulated profession in Canada. To practice as a physiotherapist, you must first register with the regulating agency in the province or territory.
The Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators (CAPR) and World Education Services (WES) evaluates educational credentials and administers exams for competency on behalf of most of the provincial and territorial regulators. The Canadian Government has declared its intention to import at least 1,000,000 skilled migrants by the end of 2021, which is great news for Physiotherapists looking to move to Canada.
Dr. Divjot also replied to many queries posed by the students and also assured to help the students as a guide if they are planning to migrate abroad.
Dr. Shobhit Saxena thanked the ever cheerful Dr. Divjot for sparing her time and guiding the students.
