Bhalla who had propagated the mantra of ‘creating better human beings’. To commemorate the 153rd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on January 12, which is also celebrated as National Youth Day in India, MREI organized essay writing and sketching competitions to showcase students’ creativity and talent. Students participating in the essay competition had to put on their thinking caps to write  on the topic ‘Importance of teachings and discourses of Swami Vivekananda for modern youth of India’ while some of them put pen to paper and made life like portraits of Swami Vivekananda. The enthusiasm and excitement of the students was palpable as they gave vent to their creative streak away from the rigours of books and classrooms. A documentary on Swami Vivekananda’s soul-stirring speech in The Parliament of Religions at Chicago in 1893 created quite an impact amongst them as the students resolved to read up more on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda and draw inspiration from them.

Swamiji’s message for the youth and various vignettes from his life were discussed at length by Faculty members and students as they recounted their own trysts with Swami Vivekananda’s teachings and how it has transformed their lives.

Dr. N C Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor, MRIU said: “Swami Vivekananda was a patriot to the core inspiring millions across the world”.

The seminar not just enlightened the youth present but put them in a sublime mood.
