Dr O.P. Bhalla Foundation propagates ‘Health for All Mission’ at Community Health camp at Lakkarpur Village

As part of the ‘Health for all’ mission, Manav Rachna International University and Faculty of Applied Sciences (FAS) organized a Health camp at Lakkarpur Village. A team of health professionals from FAS and Manav Rachna Dental College (MRDC) assessed the various patients at the village. Over 100 patients were screened and advised for overall health. Most patients were found to be suffering from postural alignments, back ache, knee pain and reported with faulty movement patterns. Regular exercise, ergonomic advices and life style modification were emphasized upon to halt and alter the deterioration level of the patients.

The patients at the camp were advised on the importance of healthy nutrition and active lifestyle. Special diet recommendations for obesity, hypertension and diabetes were conducted at the venue. The camp was organized with the kind co-operation of Gajender Singh, eminent politician and member of Lakkarpur Village.

“A special group of patients complaining of hypertension were assessed thoroughly and advised life style modifications and the importance of regular aerobic exercises. Nutrition counseling was also provided to elderly patients who were suffering from joint pains,” said Dr G.L. Khanna, Dean, FAS, MRIU who has been the guiding force behind this social initiative.

A body composition profile of the patients was conducted and special requirements of the patients with regard to nutrition was addressed.

The concept of rural health camps was first initiated by Dr O.P. Bhalla, Founder Visionary, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI), with a view to contributing towards social upliftment. In keeping with his vision and goal, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions under the aegis of the Dr O.P. Bhalla Foundation has been working ceaselessly towards improving the conditions of the underprivileged. The health camps are an effort to bring all facilities under one roof for the rural population who are deprived of proper health care facilities.
