National Seminar on Women Health and Nutrition organized by FAS, MRIU in association with the Inner Wheel Club, Faridabad Central as part of National Nutrition Week celebrations

To create awareness regarding nutrition and sensitise everyone about the need for a balanced diet, Faculty of Applied Sciences (FAS), Department of Nutrition & Dietetics, Manav Rachna International University (MRIU) is celebrating National Nutrition Week from September 1st-7th, 2016. Continuing with the celebration, a National Seminar on Women Health and Nutrition was organized by Faculty of Applied Sciences (FAS), Department of Nutrition & Dietetics, Manav Rachna International University (MRIU) in association with the Inner Wheel Club, Faridabad Central. Present on the occasion were, Ms. Satya Bhalla, Chief Patron, MREI; Dr N.C Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor, MRIU; Dr (Prof) G.L Khanna, Dean, FAS, MRIU; Ms. Renuka Thakkar, President, Inner wheel Club, Faridabad, Central; Ms. Gurdeep Kaur, Senior Dietician, AIIMS; Ms. Shobha Tuli, Secretary, Thalesemic India; among other senior dignitaries.

The event witnessed Inner Wheel Club, Faridabad, Central, in association with Manav Rachna Dental College providing Free Dentures to 15 senior citizens along with a Dental Maintenance Kit to each of them.
Wishing everyone on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, Ms. Satya Bhalla, Chief Patron, MREI, said, “I am immensely delighted that Manav Rachna, in association with the Inner Wheel Club, has organized a seminar on Women Health and Nutrition to sensitise people on the importance of consuming a Balanced Diet. I feel privileged to fulfill the dreams of Dr. O.P Bhalla in dedicating myself towards societal upliftment, and pray to God, to give me the strength and compassion to perpetuate this commitment for the years to come.”

While welcoming the audience on behalf of the Inner Wheel Club, Faridabad Central, Ms. Renu Thakkar, President, Inner wheel Club, Faridabad, Central said, “When Wealth is lost, nothing is lost; when Health is lost, something is lost and when Character is lost, everything is lost. Therefore, it becomes important that an individual focuses on developing qualities and characteristics which differentiate him or her from others.”

The event also comprised expert talk sessions by Dr. Renuka Pathak, Associate Professor, Department of Nutrition & Dietetics, FAS and Ms. Anita Jatana, Chief Dietician, Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi. Ms. Gurdeep Kaur, Senior Dietician, AIIMS, apprised the audience about the benefits of consuming adequate amount of protein and dietary fibre and also emphasized on taking a balanced diet and making the right food choices particularly for expecting mothers. Ms. Vinita Chopra, Inner Wheel Club, PDC, Health Committee Faridabad, central, enlightened the audience about cornea donation and encouraged the crowd to donate the precious gift of sight to the ones who need it to in order to bring colours to their life.
