GREEN BUILDINGS –SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE AND INTERIOR DESIGN
The Faculty of Architecture & Design organized an expert lecture on “Green Buildings – Sustainable Architecture & Interior Design” on 3rd Nov. 2022. Students of B.Sc Interior Design, B. Design & B.Arch, B.Tech-Civil along with all faculty members of Department of Architecture & Design attended the session.
Ar. Sheetal Rakheja and Mr Punit Aggarwal were the GUEST SPEAKERS. The Expert lecture was organised by Shruti Jain, HoD, FAD & Ms. Rachna Rajpal, Assoc. Prof, FAD. Total 110 students attended the session.
The students were made conscious about Sustainability, environmental awareness and were inspired by the showcase of her existing projects and future trends in industry.
It was a great learning session for the students where they learned more about the Green Building Movement, Eco-friendly Materials in Design, the positive & negative effects of various materials & technologies on the environment, use of natural energies & elements, reduce, reuse & recycling of various materials in a building etc.
Additionally the students also understood the adaptive use of spaces, the future of workspaces, how co-working spaces are designed & their functional use.
The following were the Experts for the session:
Speaker 1: Ar. Sheetal Rakheja
Chair, IGBC Delhi Chapter, Executive committee Member , IGBC LEED AP, IGBC Accredited Professional. President WICCI, Architecture council , U.P.
Ar. Sheetal showcased her project, who is the Managing Partner at AEON Design which is a leading Architecture and Interior design firm based in Delhi. She is an accredited Green building professional, Chair IGBC Delhi Chapter and member of IGBC executive committee. Sheetal is a firm believer in Sustainable Architecture, therefore, her designs focus on harnessing nature’s elements, and balancing environment consciousness with occupant wellbeing and comfort. Several of her projects shown have received LEED platinum and Gold Rating. She has designed projects covering a staggering 60 Million Sq. Ft.of built space. Her wide portfolio of works with SHUNYA, India’s first NET ZERO ENERGY home is one of her research development projects made completely out of waste. Her projects set a benchmark in energy efficiency in the industry. Sheetal and her team are currently working on the design of a few net positive energy buildings.
Speaker 2: Mr. Punit Agarwal from IGBC
Organisation: CII – Indian Green Building Council
Mr. Punit is associated with CII- Indian Green Building Council, part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) as a Counsellor. A certified Green professional with 17 years of expertise in the field of Techno – Marketing, promotion of Green Concept is his prime area of working. He is involved in many projects for IGBC CERTIFICATION. Green Aspirations & handhold the project teams to achieve the desired rating. Keen interest in Sustainability, Efficiently & Intelligently use of Natural Resources, he is involved in various capacity-building exercises with government agencies, corporate, institutions, colleges etc. Till now, he has trained over 3000 professionals on Sustainability Concepts. Overall the students acquired great knowledge & understanding on the domain.
