Dermatoglypics patterns as a novel marker for Oral Cancer detection
Our team members include Dr. Sumit Bhateja( Head and Professor, Dept of Oral Medicine and Radiology, MRDC), Dr. Arushi Bhatia(Intern MRDC), and Neeru Rani (final year BDS student, MRDC) We know that CANCER is the leading cause of death worldwide, among which oral cancer is one of the most common causes of death. Through our literature research, we have found Dermatoglyphics is one of the such study that can aid as a screening tool for early detection of high risk individuals with oral cancer. It is a specific, reliable and easily identifiable biomarker that can differentiate cancer from a healthy individual. So, for this, we have proposed an “ORA-CAN” app that will act as a screening tool for early detection of oral cancer. There will be certain set of questionnaire which has to be answered and app will take your biometric as well, based on these 2, scoring will be done and individual will be categorized as low ,moderate ,high or very high risk and based on this certain recommendations and consultations will be given. It’s a unique idea as To the best of our knowledge, no such published report documenting fingerprint app for early detection has been launched. With this device an attempt is made for early detection of oral cancer which is the key to successful treatment and reduction in the morbidity
