Report on International Industry Webinar “TLS Fingerprinting Using JA3” 

The faculty of Computer Applications conducted a second International webinar in  October on Saturday, 15 October 2022 from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm. The title of the webinar was “TLS Fingerprinting Using JA3 ”. The resource person of the webinar was Mr. Ayush Gupta, Embedded Linux Security Developer, Teknoware, Turku, Finland with a vast experience in the field of security analysis and research specifically in Network Security. He is proficient with different Linux security and Bro/Zeek, Lua. He has vast experience with various Security tools like Nmap, Metasploit, Nessus, Dirbuster, Wireshark, etc. He has done his MS in Turku, Finland.

Dean-FCA started the session with a welcome note. The focus of the session was on TLS fingerprinting using JA3 and how it works. The speaker discussed the relevance of the TLS fingerprint using JA3 in the field of cyber security. Real-time examples were explained to give a clear insight to participants on how authentication takes place on the web between client and server. The working of JA3 and its importance were also explained along with SSL. The session also included a discussion on the vulnerability of SSL and how Wireshark helps in sniffing. Over 150 participants attended the webinar. Faculty members and students both appreciated the knowledge shared by the industry guest speaker.
