Industry Interaction Session and Inauguration of Electric Vehicle Center of Excellence (CoE) in association with Electric one Mobility Pvt Limited held on 22nd June 2022

Faculty of Engineering and Technology, MRIIRS and Electric One Mobility Private Limited have collaborated to launch the Centre of Excellence for Electric Vehicle Technology.  Dr. Prashant Bhalla – President, MREI together with Mr. Amit Das- Founder & CEO, Electric One Mobility Pvt. Limited. inaugurated the Centre of Excellence for Electric Vehicle Technology and signed the Memorandum of Understanding on 22.6.2022 at 11:30 AM.

The other dignitaries present at the inauguration were Mr. Dheeraj Tripathi – Co-Founder & COO, Electric One Mobility Pvt. Limited; Ms. Sushma Tripathi – Program Head, Skill Next India; Mr. Satyendra Pal – ​​Founder & Managing Director, Jeetsons Electric Vehicles Pvt Limited; Mr. Harish Sharma – Co-Founder & Director, Jeetsons Electric Vehicles Pvt Limited, Dr. Manoj Nayak, Head, Mechanical Engineering, FET, MRIIRS, Dr. Tapas Kumar,  Head, Computer Science, FET, MRIIRS, Dr. Jyoti Chawla Head Applied Science and Dr. Devendra Vashist.

The move comes in the wake of the strong need to hone skills of students and adapt to the EV Revolution that is unfolding before the world. Incepted with a single-minded objective, Electric Vehicle Center of Excellence (COE) in association with Electric One Mobility Pvt Limited is aimed to educate, engage and elevate students to be future-ready in a changed EV environment. This Certification and Curriculum based Experiential Program at the Centre will cater to the much needed skills amongst students for the ever growing futuristic segment of electric vehicles. It will provide tremendous professional and academic opportunities in the coming years. Most importantly, this Program will strengthen India’s EV Vision.

Dr. Prashant Bhalla, President MREI in his address, stated that “in our existence of 25 years, Manav Rachna has always taken the lead in adopting new technologies, and we are now getting into a new dimension with the launch of the Centre of Excellence. The EV sector has received tremendous response and support from users and governments around the world and with our PM’s vision, EV is going to open new career opportunities in the country. With industry players adopting the EV technology; as academic institutions we are truly focused on delivering the right skills set to our students and with this venture, we definitely hope for greater avenues.”

   Elaborating on this collaboration Mr Amit Das, Founder & CEO, Electric One Mobility Pvt. Mr. Dheeraj Tripathi – Co-Founder & COO, Electric One Mobility Pvt. Limited; discussed about the speed of innovation that has taken place in the area of Electric Mobility. He informed about solution for air pollution and importing of expensive petroleum. Major EV player can explore possibilities for export particularly in Nepal Bangladesh and African countries.

Electric One’s “Skill Next” is strategically backed by 20 plus Indian OEMs and supported by German Research Institutes and Innovation Centers. Enjoyimg the first-mover advantage,  this is first-of-its-kind in the Indian education ecosystem and will immensely foster Industry’s deeper understanding between Industry and Academia.

Centre of Excellence will focus on two areas Training and Research the areas that will be covered under these two heads are

  • EV Drive and Control
  • Energy Storage, BMS and BTMS
  • Charging Infrastructure for EV/HEV
  • Automotive Safety
  • Electric Vehicle Testing & Validation.
  • AI & IOT Application to Automotive
  • Fundamentals of Hydrogen Fuel Cell

Research Areas

  • Battery chemistries
  • Battery Thermal Management Systems
  • electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) Designs
  • EV Drive and Control
  • Two wheeler body design.
  • Electric Vehicle Testing & Validation.

During the first Phase Electric Vehicle Center of Excellence (COE) will be offering two programme

  1. Skill Next Programme (The programme is for the skill enhancement in the area of EV.)

To provide the EV sector with skilled and trained manpower skill next programme is divided into two levels.

Level one minimum qualification is 10th.pass with a duration of 1 month student who has completed level one can join level 2 programme.

  1. Specialized program on EV for B.Tech undergraduates.

The program is for B.Tech Undergraduates which will lead to major or minor degree in Electric Vehicle Specialization.

During the second Phase Electric Vehicle Center of Excellence (COE) will come up with

  • Short term Training programmes to Industry Professionals.
  • Consultancy services to EV Industry
  • Research projects supported by govt schemes

All these activities are planned in the labs i.e

  • Electric Vehicle Lab
  • Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Lab
  • Electric Vehicle Testing & Validation Lab
  • Electric Vehicle Simulation lab

These programs will offer a gamut of things viz. Certification, Curriculum-based credits, Live Projects, Startup opportunities, and funding along with great career and higher education opportunities.
