Faculty Development Programme Organized by Department of Chemistry
The aim of the Faculty Development Programme was to sensitize the Faculty members about benefits of using instructional videos to supplement environmental studies classroom lectures.
Environmental Science is a broad discipline which ensures the acquisition of necessary knowledge and skills to deal with socio-economic issues related to the environment. It is a multidisciplinary science which focuses on several aspects including climate change, biodiversity and environmental management, population dynamics, ecosystem and urbanization, population and its control etc. Since the natural world is quite complex and human activities are leading to unexpected consequences which are difficult to reverse, a dedicated study of environmental science is the need of the hour. In the recent past, several initiatives have been made at national and international levels to combat environmental issues and spread awareness among people. Environmental Studies subject was also introduced for all undergraduate students of MR as a subsidiary subject as per the Supreme Court decision in higher education.
With an aspiration to imbibe the essence of such campaigns to its fullest and to inculcate a keen desire to keep our planet green, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Manav Rachna International University keeps forth its step in the form of video lectures series. The first lecture was shared on December 28, 2016 which encompassed detailed description of structure and functioning of ecosystems and solutions to various environmental issues viz. acid rain, green house effect, ozone depletion etc. These lectures will be shared with the students to enhance teaching learning process and instill this knowledge in budding minds.
