‘World Water Day’ being observed at Manav Rachna Educational Institutions on March 22, 2016

Manav Rachna International University, Faridabad is celebrating ‘World Water Day’ at its campus on March 22, 2016 in association with Indian National Committee of International Association of Hydrogeologists (INC-IAH) in line with United Nation’s Water Theme for 2016: Water and Jobs.

The seminar will comprise two sessions. The first session will consist of a discussion in which eminent speakers with rich, scientific and technical background from Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), Govt. of India, and GHS  would deliver knowledge and latest updates on the water sector. The audience would consist of representatives from education institutions, industry, and NGOs along with faculty members and students. Dr. K B Biswas, Chairman, Central Ground Water Board; Smt. Usha Ananthasubramanian, MD & CEO of Punjab National Bank; Dr. D K Chadha, President GHS & Former-Chairman, CGWB; Dr. S K Mohiuddin, Scientist-Ministry of Water Resources; Dr. Mittal Prathmesh Brar, Techno-Specialist-Organic STP; Dr. Pati, Member, CGWB; Dr. Mukherjee, Scientist- D, CGWB; Dr. Amit Bhalla, VP, MREI; Dr, N C Wadhwa, VC-MRIU; among other senior dignitaries.

Representatives from Prerna, an NGO run by PNB shall also address the students to sensitize them for contributing towards social issues.

The second session comprises a Workshop titled ‘Smart Cities and Water Sector’ being organized jointly by MCF Faridabad and Manav Rachna International University (MRIU). The workshop will be presided by Dr. Aditya Dahiya, IAS, Commissioner, MCF. The project: Revival of Badhkal Lake at Faridabad would also be discussed and recommendations of pre-feasibility studies undertaken by MRIU will be deliberated upon during the workshop. The whole effort of the workshop is to interact with RWAs on the important aspects of water in Faridabad. The outcomes of the workshop will be integrated into the activity calendar of “Water Forum, Haryana” and into the concept of Smart Cities as envisaged for Faridabad.
