Report on Genomics in Research and Diagnostic: A Career Prospective

The Department of Biotechnology FET MRIIRS conducted an “Genomics in Research and Diagnostic: A career prospective” at MRIIRS on 27^th March 2023 by Dr. Ratnesh Tripathi, Application Scientist, DGG Group, Agilent (India). The agenda was to increase the awareness and vigilance of students regarding the development of career in Genomics and Diagnostics and to enhanced the placements opportunity among students/ participants.

Dr. Manu Solanki, HoD, Department of Biotechnology FET MRIIRS addressed the students and discussed introduced Dr. Ratnesh Tripathi. Dr. Ratnesh Tripathi, Field Application Scientist at Genomics Solutions, Agilent Pvt. started with formal sessions where we were briefed about the latest technologies as well as developments taking place in the field of genomics. He also discussed about the possible future collaborations and trainings. We were then given a virtual tour of the excellent genomics lab. The main five facilities i.e. Genomics Laboratory, Bioassay Laboratory, BSL-3 facility and Chemistry Laboratory. The scientific and technical expertise were explained for facilities working i.e. from basic as well as advanced integrities of the equipments and the techniques. Further, these informations were connected with the development of Career in the Genomics and Diagnostics by Dr. Ratnesh.

Students participated enthusiastically and actively in the interactions and responded very positive to the Specialist. They showed interest in pursuing research and development as a career opportunity. We were invited to work and use the facility for experiments.
