About the Department

Department of Commerce was established in the year 2015 under Faculty of Commerce and Business Studies (FCBS), Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS, Formerly MRIU- a NAAC Accredited ‘A’ Grade Institution), a Deemed-to-be-University under Section 3 of the UGC Act (1956). Department of Commerce works with an aim of fostering in the students an attitude of objective inquiry.

Commerce besides being a traditional stream of education but is also the backbone of any economy and for expansions it requires knowledge, skills, and attitudes among the students for the successful handling of trade, commerce, and industry. The department equips students with the latest developments in the field of business and commerce and trains them with technical knowledge and practical perspective to face global competition with modernized tools and approach.

It seeks to enable them to handle the challenges of growth and transformation of businesses through critical thinking, rational attitudes and quality decision making. It is dedicated to developing the students into responsible citizens of the country with high moral values, understanding the problems of human relationships and developing a capacity to appreciate the finer values of life. The Department is committed to promoting high-quality professional accounting standards. The thrust areas of the Department include Accounting Standards, Risk Management, Capital Markets, e-commerce, Economics, Corporate Laws, Taxation and Financial Management. The course is designed to include a diverse range of academic offerings & experience to a multiplicity of paradigms including industrial visits, industry lectures, projects, case studies and analysis. Students are trained by a renowned faculty which seeks to prepare well-equipped accountants who can tackle new emerging challenges in the market and excel in their chosen fields. The department provides more exposure on critical thinking, practical and real-life training. In order to provide hands-on experience, a terminal of Bloomberg has been installed and value added courses are being offered on entrepreneurship and capital market in collaboration with BSE Institute Ltd.
